Let’s talk dashboards. Or specifically, why your warehouse dashboard shouldn’t be a carbon copy of your sales dashboard.
On the surface, it might seem like a good idea to keep things uniform. Same layout, same numbers, same format across the board. But when it comes to your warehouse, that approach could risk leaking your company secrets.
Here’s the issue: sales dashboards aren’t always meant to be public.
In some businesses, the warehouse is a very visible space. Customers walk through. Couriers come and go. Contractors and suppliers might be in and out. If you’ve got your daily sales figures plastered up on a big screen or whiteboard, anyone can see them — yep, even your competitors.
That’s why we recommend keeping your sales numbers private, especially in spaces that are more public-facing.
So what’s the solution?
We take your existing sales dashboard — but instead of showing dollar amounts, we switch it to percentages.
Same look, same functionality, just no dollar signs.
Here’s an example: let’s say your sales target is $75,000 per day. Instead of showing the live dollar tally, we show something like “Today’s Target: 86% Complete.”
That way, your team can still track their progress without broadcasting your revenue to every visitor who walks past.
During setup we’ll usually create the sales dashboard with dollar amounts first, then once that is live with the correct data create a warehouse version:
- One with $ figures (for the sales office)
- One with % progress (for warehouse viewing)
They look the same — clean, visual, easy to read — but one keeps your numbers secure.
Still fully functional and totally flexible.
Just like any of our dashboards, the warehouse version can be mixed and matched with other KPIs that matter to your team. You’re not stuck just showing sales.
Here are some warehouse-specific KPIs we often include:
- Outstanding Orders: Keep the team focused on what still needs to go out.
- DIFOT (Delivered In Full On Time): A great benchmark for fulfilment performance.
- Outstanding Returns: So the team knows what’s waiting to be processed.
- Internal Messages or Notes: Handy for reminders or daily priorities.
- Picking Leaderboards: A bit of healthy competition never hurts!
If your warehouse dashboard is in a space where others can see it, skip the dollar signs. Keep your team motivated, your data secure, and your dashboards meaningful.
