Using Digital Signage for Dashboards

If you would like to get more value out of your dashboards and screens, digital signage software might be the solution.

Most of our customers keep it simple when putting our dashboards on the wall. Smart TV, NUC, or even an old laptop plugged into a dumb TV all work fine.

What we’re seeing more of now though, is customers using digital signage software. The more screens you have, the more necessary it becomes, but it can be useful even with 1 screen!

With digital signage software, you can schedule different things at different times of the day. For example:

  • When everyone is arriving: Welcome screen and the overall monthly target
  • During power hour/RFZ: Sales activity dashboard
  • The rest of the time: Company dashboard

Another client uses it to cycle through individual KPIs in their factory so they can be easily seen from a distance.

And of course, when you have multiple screens in multiple offices, you can push new content to them all at once and update them all in one hit.

Some commercial screens come with digital signage software built in, for example Samsung’s MagicInfo. There are also plenty of standalone options available that can connect to a wide variety of different players, like Raspberry Pis or other hardware. Some common options are OptiSigns, YoDeck, and PiSignage, which all have free plans available.
